EU Fund Jurisdictions: Forum & Think Tank

IFI Global and Catalina Consulting are launching a Forum and Think Tank to examine how Brexit, Covid-19 and the economic crisis impact the development of the EU’s cross-border fund hubs.

The Forum will meet for four 1-hour sessions from October 2020 to January 2021 via Zoom. The Think Tank, using data from IFI Global’s research department, will explore topics and circulate papers on subjects to be discussed at the Forum meetings.

Focusing primarily on Ireland and Luxembourg, the Forum and Think Tank will examine how the fund industry in these jurisdictions will be altered by Brexit, the pandemic and related regulatory and tax changes including BEPS. It will cover the following areas:

  • No deal Brexit nor Equivalence: what it means for managers and service providers
  • Portfolio management: possible changes to delegation rules post Brexit
  • Risk management: the impact of Covid-19 through to liquidity risk issues
  • Fund governance: how Covid-19, ESG etc will change governance practices
  • Post Brexit regulations: Fortress Europe, EU ‘export centre’ reforms, substance etc
  • EU-UK: how a post Brexit UK impacts Ireland and Luxembourg

How it works

Briefing papers will be published on subject matter to be covered, such as on those mentioned above. Four Zoom meetings will be hosted to discuss the subject matter raised in the briefing papers on the following dates;

  • Thursday 15th October 2020, 14.00 UK Time
  • Thursday 5th November 2020, 14.00 UK Time
  • Wednesday 2nd December 2020, 14.00 UK Time
  • Tuesday 12th January 2021, 14.00 UK Time

A summary of what is discussed at the Zoom meetings will be made available to participants and also published in IFI Global’s ‘Tracker’
